About Pantonne Press

Pantonne Press began around a campfire in Michigan fifteen years ago. A struggling writer complained that he couldn't get published and a printer complained about being bored with his present job. A publishing company was formed and the first book that came out of that meeting, "Ripples" went onto win the Booklist's Editors Choice Award for 1992. The second novel, Tobacco Sticks became a Book of the Month selection, was sold to Hollywood, featured in People Magazine and sold at a paperback auction. This launched the career of the writer and we lost him to Bantam where he went onto to publish his third novel, Mica Highways. Pantonne Press languished for some years and we tried different ventures, trying to keep with the implied objective that "good" books do still deserve to get published, but I must admit we never quite had the same magic of those first two books. The printer went onto other ventures and Pantonne Press changed hands a few times which brings us to the present. Our acquisition of the writer's fourth novel, Rocket Man, has us very excited. It is a contemporary novel one rarely sees anymore, funny, poignant, a dead on characterization of what life in the suburbs is now and the high price of the American dream. I do think it is a book for our times. And it is funny. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did.
